Hours and Directions

MCHS is located in the Beall-Dawson Historical Park, where you can find our research library, both museums, administrative office, and museum shop.  Please scroll down the page for directions.  A small parking lot (including designated handicapped parking) for the campus is located on Middle Lane, between the Beall-Dawson House and the Library.

Summer visitors: Please be advised that the Beall-Dawson House is not air-conditioned.  We do our best to provide air flow through the house, but it does get warm; plan your visit accordingly.  (The Stonestreet Museum and the Library are air-conditioned.)

Inclement Weather: We follow MCPS - if schools are closed for weather, the museums and library are closed as well.  On the weekends we follow the County Recreation Department - if daytime classes and activities are canceled, the museums and library are closed.  (MC Rec Weather Hotline: 240-777-6889)

Directions to the Beall-Dawson Historical Park from Route 355: 
From Bethesda/Silver Spring/downcounty: Going north on Route 355, turn left on East Middle Lane, cross North Washington Street and go 1.5 blocks. Just past the intersection at North Adams Street, our parking lot will be on the left.

From Gaithersburg/Germantown/upcounty: Going south on Route 355, bear right on North Washington Street. Turn right onto West Middle Lane.  Just past the intersection at North Adams Street, our parking lot will be on the left.

Directions to the Beall-Dawson Historical Park from Route 270: Take the Route 28 exit (Exit 6) east towards, downtown Rockville. Turn left at the light at Great Falls Road/West Montgomery Avenue in order to stay on West Montgomery. Take the next left onto North Adams Street, and then left onto West Middle Lane. Our parking lot is on the left.

Directions to the Beall-Dawson Historical Park from the METRO: Take the Red Line to the Rockville Metro. After exiting the turnstile make a left out the gate and proceed up 2 flights of stairs to the pedestrian bridge (over Hungerford Drive/Route 355). Proceed across the walkway and down the stairs to cross Monroe Street. Continue three blocks up the street (East Montgomery Ave/Courthouse Square) and cross Maryland Avenue and North Washington Street. Turn right on North Adams Street (you will see the Beall-Dawson House in front of you) and either go up our steps in the middle of the block, or proceed to Middle Lane and make a left to reach our parking lot.
