The Sesquicentennial Edition of
The Civil War Guide to Montgomery County, Maryland
By Charles T. Jacobs
The important work on Montgomery County's Civil War story is back in print, with additional images and an updated bibliography.
"In 1983, the Montgomery County Historical Society published a book that consolidated research on Montgomery County in the Civil War conducted over four decades by Charles and Marian Waters Jacobs. The public hailed Civil War Guide to Montgomery County, Maryland as a ground-breaking publication. In the Guide, Mr. Jacobs explained the county's experiences in the Civil War, organized by towns and place names. In 1996, Mr. Jacobs revised, and the Historical Society reprinted, the original publication.
"The Society honors the memory and accomplishments of Charles Jacobs with the publication of this third edition during the Sesquicentennial commemoration of the Civil War. We have preserved the author's original text but allowed for a 2011 approach by updating with minor text corrections, additional images, improved design, and an enhanced bibliography that reflects recent scholarship on Montgomery County in the Civil War."
