Educational Programs

The Montgomery County Historical Society (MCHS) has been promoting and presenting the history and heritage of Montgomery County, Maryland since 1944. Helping people learn about, understand and appreciate the history of Montgomery County is part of MCHS’ mission. Programs for school children are one way to achieve that goal.

Programs have been specially designed to teach children about county history while meeting curriculum objectives. Outreach kits, traveling exhibits, Montgomery County History Day and field trip programs are all available.

The education staff of MCHS is available to talk about all these programs in greater detail or to come to your school to discuss the different opportunities. We recognize that there are not many teaching materials to help you expose children to county history. These programs have been created to help fill the void.

MCHS also offers volunteer opportunities for senior high and college/graduate students. Please click here for a link to information regarding volunteer positions.
