Our Maryland Heritage A series of studies of families found primarily in Montgomery County beginning with the early history of colonial Maryland and the subsequent formation of the counties. Each book provides general information about a principal family, and then more detailed information about families from other counties. Each book has an index listing names of individuals by marriage. They provide a head start for those researching these families. For the purposes of genealogical and historical research, the following is a complete list of the books in the series including out-of-print titles.

- Over 14 chapters, Hurley captures the history of the Shaw family whose presence in Maryland dates back to the Revolution. The book focuses on the families of four Shaws who may have been brothers including Levi Shaw (b. 1780), Rezin Shaw (b. 1775), John Shaw (b. 1773), and Lemuel Shaw (b. 1770). 2002, 145 pp., softcover
Book 39 The Harding Families - Starting with John Harding (1683-1752) whose tombstone is the oldest one found in the Rockville Cemetery on Baltimore Road, Hurley traces the lines of 7 other Hardings including John Lackland Harding (1780-1835), Elizabeth Harding (1758-1823), John W.
