Montgomery County Marriage Licenses 1798-1898 by Janet Thompson Manuel- Manuel's book provides information on 8,725 licenses issued between 1798 to 1898. Although this is not the first license record book (which has been missing from county records since the early 1800's), Manuel's work contains the names of the bride & groom, and the date of the license. Other information appearing at various times in these records include license fees, and the couple's race ( which was not done consistently until December 1855).
