Dining Room

Dining Room, Beall Dawson House

From the Dining Room you may proceed upstairs to the Getty Bedroom.

This is the dining room.  The table between the windows was part of the original dining table set owned by Upton Beall.  The set included three tables, and they were used as we use table leaves today, setting up as many as needed for the dinner party.

The tallcase clock (pictured below) is located along the wall to right of the portraits in the dining room. The clock was commissioned by Upton Beall.  The clock face reads "Jesse Hayden, Rockville."  This was the single most valuable item listed in the 1827 inventory, and it was far more valuable than any clock listed in other households at the time.  It is an eight-day clock with a second hand.
